Dublin Institute of Spanish

¡Hola! I'm Mila Fernández

Bridging Cultures Through Language, Learning & Connection

When I founded the Dublin Institute of Spanish, I wanted to create something different: a place where learning Spanish feels personal, meaningful, and genuinely transformative.

Too often, language education follows a rigid, one-size-fits-all model. My philosophy is the opposite. Every student brings their own goals, experiences, strengths, and challenges, and I believe teaching should adapt to the learner — not the other way around.

Whether you are a professional developing your confidence in Business Spanish, an adult learner preparing for travel or relocation, or a student aiming for success in the Junior Cycle or Leaving Certificate, my role is to guide you with expertise, structure, and encouragement at every stage of your journey.

As a linguist, educator, and psychopedagogical specialist, I combine academic rigour with a highly personalised approach. My aim is not simply to teach vocabulary and grammar, but to help students communicate naturally, think confidently, and connect deeply with the Spanish-speaking world.

Native Spanish Teachers

A Modern, Personalised Methodology

I design lessons that are dynamic, relevant, and tailored to real people living in the real world. While strong linguistic foundations remain essential, I move beyond static textbook learning to create classes that feel engaging, practical, and alive.

For adult learners, this means developing authentic communication skills, cultural understanding, and the confidence to use Spanish naturally in professional, social, and travel contexts.

For teenagers preparing for the Irish curriculum, it means building the structure, discipline, and self-belief needed to achieve strong academic results while also enjoying the learning process.

The Gold Standard

I am an Official DELE Examiner (A1-C2) certified by Instituto Cervantes. I don’t just teach the exam; I know exactly what the examiners are looking for.

Academic Rigour:

I hold a BA (Hons) in Educational Psychology and a University Master’s Degree in Spanish as a Foreign Language.

100% Native Expertise:

Born and raised in Spain, I bring the authentic rhythm, accent, and cultural nuances of the language to every lesson.

Garda Vetted & Teen-Approved

With extensive experience in teenage education, I know how to transform "school-subject boredom" into genuine interest and exam-day confidence.

"With languages, you are at home everywhere."

High Standards in a Supportive Environment

At the heart of the Institute is a balance between academic excellence and human connection. I believe students thrive when expectations are high but support is equally strong.

I strive to create an environment where learners feel challenged, encouraged, and understood — a space where mistakes are part of growth, curiosity is welcomed, and confidence develops naturally over time.

Innovation in Service of Learning

Innovation is a central part of my educational philosophy. I actively integrate Artificial Intelligence and modern educational technologies into my teaching practice in thoughtful, purposeful ways that genuinely support language acquisition.

Rather than using AI as a shortcut, I teach students how to use it as an intelligent learning partner — helping them develop autonomy, critical thinking, creativity, and real communicative confidence in Spanish.

I design custom AI-supported learning experiences including interactive storybooks, guided conversation prompts, personalised speaking practice, and Socratic-style activities that encourage students to think, reflect, and actively engage with the language instead of passively consuming information.

My approach combines the best of both worlds: the warmth and expertise of human teaching with the possibilities offered by innovative technology.

By staying at the forefront of educational innovation, I can offer students a learning experience that feels modern, dynamic, highly personalised, and deeply relevant to the way we learn and communicate today.
